Some of the world’s top tennis players will be attending this year’s Shanghai Rolex Masters Tournament, held on October 5th to 13th. Meanwhile, a 9-day Youth Tennis Carnival is being held downtown as a promotional activity for the upcoming main event. Organized for children between the ages of 5 – 18, the Carnival seeks to inspire local youths to take a more active interest in tennis. Temporary courts have been setup for the tennis stars of tomorrow in the LuWan Shopping Mall in Huangpu District where organizers will select 3 outstanding young players from the Camp to meet some of their heroes at the Shanghai Masters. As well as this, a total of 20 participants between the ages of 12 – 18 will have the opportunity to be selected as one of the Ball boys and Ball girls during the tournament. They will be selected during the camp to participate in the Tournament based on their language skills, tennis knowledge and reaction speed. The Carnival, which finishes on Sept. 1st is also displaying trophies, memorabilia, pictures and videos from previous tournaments.
