Rain and overcast conditions are set to return on Tuesday after three days of fine weather.
Along with Sunday’s sun there was heavy fog and moderate smog in the morning.
The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued a yellow alert for heavy fog at 6:37am warning that visibility in Chongming, Fengxian, Songjiang, Qingpu, Baoshan and Jinshan districts would be less than 500 meters.
Meanwhile, the air quality index was 195 at 6am, moderately polluted, with PM2.5 particles.
The blue heavy air pollution alert issued on Saturday was lifted at 2pm.
This week the mercury will range between 6 and 12 degrees Celsius.
Tuesday will see temperatures drop in the afternoon with some showers.
The rain will continue on Wednesday and taper off to a drizzle on Thursday morning.
It will be cloudy to overcast Thursday afternoon.
Friday will be slightly warmer but with showers.
