According to Shanghai city government, air quality during the last eight months has been as good as last years while water quality has improved. Average density of PM 2.5 particles was 36 micrograms per cubic meter, the same as last year and the lowest since 2014, which was the first full year such information was recorded.
Authorities said that new technologies and more concerted efforts and planning have contributed to water quality improvements and the city will continue with its plans in the coming year. Another plan to improve air and water quality is to work more closely with other regions in the Yangtze River Delta Region.
