This episode consists of four main themes, including “Trial or No Trial”, “Prosecution and Defense”, “Evidence, True or Not” and “The Verdict”. It tells the similarities between the Tokyo Trials and the Nuremberg Trials. Both Trials punished the main war criminals of WWII on a legal basis.
Meanwhile, it reveals the contest between the prosecution and the defense. The first debate regarded the jurisdiction of the tribunal. The other debate was “should individuals bear responsibility for a nation?”
Besides the lawyers of the prosecution and the defense, witnesses also played an important role on the tribunal. When the trials came to an end, the judges were responsible for the determination of the verdict and the sentences for each defendant.
