Brookings Expert: Impressive Poverty Alleviation Progress

China’s efforts to eradicate extreme poverty are an apt example of its people-centric development philosophy. Targeted poverty alleviation has made great progress in the five years, with the impoverished population declining from more than 80 million in 2013 to about 30 million in 2017.


David Dollar of the Brookings Institution weighs in on the progress that has been made and how he thinks it can serve as an example to other countries.
