China highly appreciates the political decisions made by the leaders of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the US as the summit between Kim Jong Un, leader of the DPRK, and US President Donald Trump has achieved positive results, according to a statement released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
The statement said China welcomes and supports the achievements of the meeting, and gave positive comments on the efforts made by the parties concerned to promote the success of the meeting.
Facilitating the process of denuclearization on the peninsula, ending the hostility and confrontation of the past 60 years, and safeguarding the overall peace and stability are in line with the trend of the times, the statement said.

China is committed to the denuclearization of the peninsula, its peace and stability, and settlement of the issue through dialogue and consultation.
Recently the DPRK and US have conducted close communications and achieved positive progress in resolving the Korean Peninsula issue, which meets the common expectations of China, said the statement.
As a close neighbor of the Korean Peninsula and an important party, China is willing to work jointly with all parties concerned to continue to commit itself to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of a peace mechanism for the peninsula.
