U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday met with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, who is leading the Chinese delegation for the ninth round of China-U.S. trade talks in Washington.
Liu first conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s message to Trump, in which Xi said that new substantial progress has been made on economic and trade agreement text in past more than one month.
In the message, Xi called for early conclusion of negotiations on text of China-U.S. economic and trade agreement.
Strategic leadership is needed for healthy and stable development of China-U.S. ties, said Xi.
During the meeting, Liu said that in the past two days, the economic and trade teams of the two sides have conducted fruitful negotiations and reached new consensus on the text of China-U.S. economic and trade agreement.
Under the guidance of the consensus of the leaders of the two countries, the two sides will continue to work hard, hold close negotiations, make more progress on issues of mutual concern, Liu added.
