City Receives 1st License In China To Test Driverless Cars

With Shanghai’s license to test driverless cars, Jiading district has already allocated 80 kilometers of road for testing to begin. SAIC and BMW will be involved in a pilot test program to test driverless cars. The companies are limited to 50 test vehicles each, but the numbers will increase based on the success of the test program.

Li Lin of the SH Intelligent Connected Vehicle Innovation Center says that after the companies get their licenses they will be allowed to carry passengers and goods. Other regions in the Yangtze Delta Region will be issued with test licenses in the future.
