“Class” is a play with many facets. It combines Scottish and Chinese cultures, and explores the difficulties faced by people with dyslexia. It offers a different perspective on a culture and a condition that Chinese people often don’t have much experience with.
Although some of the dialect may be modeled after Scottish-English, it is still very much a Chinese play. Through the conflict of a parent-teacher conference, we can learn so much about the inner lives of the characters and their struggles.
