Houses With Stories To Tell Ep 4: Dai Houses Embrace Tradition And Modernity

Mengjinglai is tiny village on the China-Myanmar border that has a history of over 1,000 years, home to about 110 households of the Dai minority. The recent influx of tourists from the official recognition of its cultural heritage has led to some changes, but it is still fully attached to its traditions.

 

 

You can see the physical embodiment of the Dai culture in their houses. From the bamboo building materials to the unique construction, every aspect reflects a life perfectly adapted to its surroundings.
