Empty Nests: Part 7

Zhaodi Wang looks forward to her children returning for the Spring Festival, just like the rest of the elderly in her village, but this happiness is accompanied by a note of sadness. One of her sons went off to Shenzhen to be a tailor, and hasn’t been heard of since.

 

There is nothing she can do but keep an open heart. In Sangongmiao Village, all she has left are her grey-haired compatriots to help her hold solemn vigil over the empty dwellings.
