Shanghai is fast becoming an esports capitol. Oriental Pearl media group has established several partnerships to dip its toes into the burgeoning world of competitive gaming, all a part of the city’s long-term goals of dominating the market.
They have agreements with organizations such as the Shanghai University of Sport and the Qunxin Career School. A professional esports academy and organized events across the city will be part of the partnerships.
It is an exciting time to be part of this industry, as the China esports market in 2018 hit 88 billion yuan (US$12.7 billion), with an annual growth rate of over 40%.
