As one of the significant cultural events in Shanghai, the opening ceremony of Shanghai Auto Festival was held at Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre on March 5th. A series of auto-themed activities will be held in Jiading District from Tuesday till the end of May to mark the 12th Shanghai Auto Culture Festival.
Jointly organized by Jiading District government and Shanghai Administration of Culture and Tourism, this is the 12th Shanghai Auto Festival since 2005 in Jiading. Over the past 30 years car culture has evolved in the district to include racing, exhibition and tourism. It’s where motorheads can see world-class F1 events as well as China’s first automobile museum. Jiading is also where the first intelligent network car pilot demonstration zone is located and where unmanned vehicle technology is being pioneered.
This year will mark the 16th Chinese Grand Prix (April 12 to 14) to take place in Shanghai as well as the 1000th race of the F1 World Grand Prix. Many huge names in motorsports will be taking part in the festivities, and more than 200,000 fans are expected to attend.
The activities cover forums, antique car and RV exhibitions, a karting festival, tours and more. In the park, visitors will be able to try out high-tech products like racing simulators to experience the speed of driving a racing car. The Shanghai-based EVCard, one of the country’s biggest hourly car rental operators, will set up an interactive zone to inform visitors of the latest trends and development of the car sharing industry. There will also be stands at the park to show visitors Jiading’s tourist attractions, folk culture and local snacks.
As Jiading shares its automotive passion with the world, all car enthusiasts are invited to come and get their fix for speed and excitement on wheels.
