Hearing An Ancient Yet Modern China

On the evening of April 18th, “Spring Rhythm – Concert by New Folk Musicians of Shanghai Conservatory of Music” was staged at the Concert Hall of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. Among the eight folk music works performed, six are brand new. The genre and form of the works were very diverse. The concert was full of the wonderful Chinese National Chamber Music and the National Orchestra, showing the spirit and charm of Chinese national music.

As one of the popular brands of folk music concerts in Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, “Spring Rhythm” has reached its sixth year. Every year, the “Spring Rhythm” concentrates on the introduction of new works of folk music and performance art.

Every year, Shanghai Conservatory of Music promotes a number of new national music works. The composition techniques, forms and styles of these works are different, but they have something in common: passing on national culture, keeping pace with the times and telling Chinese stories.

This year’s 36th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival will hold 37 shows around the city between April 8th and 28th.
