Rania Katavouta is doing what she can to bring two cultures of great history closer together. She is a teacher of Greek language and literature, and she goes the extra mile to try to bring students out of their shell.
Chinese students can be very shy, so she makes sure to try to spend some time with them out of the classroom setting to give them more opportunities to practice their new language skills.
She’s only been in China for three years, but she has already established herself to the point of winning a Magnolia Award, one of the highest distinctions the city has to offer.
Here’s hoping that Shanghai’s students can get more teachers like her!
