World-renowned pianist Lang Lang released nine wedding photos on his Sina Weibo account on Sunday, revealing his bride to be a 24-year-old German pianist.
“I found my Alice,” Lang Lang, 36, wrote on China’s equivalent of Twitter, “She is Gina Alice.”
Lang Lang has seldom talked openly about his private life, but some Chinese media reported that he was to hold a wedding ceremony at a hotel in France and a wedding banquet at the Palace of Versailles later on Sunday.
It is reported that Lang Lang and Gina Alice met in Berlin, Germany a few years ago. Gina Alice, born in Wiesbaden, Germany, is half German and half Korean. She started to learn piano at 4 years old, gave a solo performance in public at age 8, and graduated from the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg.
Both a pianist and composer, she has held concerts at the Berliner Philharmonie in Berlin, Germany, three times, and many times in southern China’s Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the past few years. She is fluent in many languages, including German, English, French, Korean and Chinese.
The happy news ignited the internet, as the hashtag “Lang Lang married” topped Sina Weibo’s most searched list with 240 million reads and 43,000 posts as of 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Lang Lang’s own post was retweeted 132,000 times and drew 35,000 comments two hours after its release.
Chinese singers including Jane Zhang, Li Yugang, and a large number of Chinese internet users have sent wishes to the couple.
