Lantern Tradition Gets The Post-90s Treatment At Yuyuan Garden

One of the most anticipated events in Shanghai during Chinese New Year is the Lantern Festival at Yuyuan Garden. This year’s Yuyuan Garden Spring Lantern Festival kicked off last Friday.

2020 marks the 25th year of the big event in Shanghai. As an intangible culture heritage in China, the Yuyuan Lantern Festival has collided with the latest AI technology to create a new visual effect for the visitors. Besides controlling the lighting system with voice control, a 3D projective effect has also been added on the traditional lanterns.

Meet the post-60s inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage, Wan Songtao, and the post-90s lighting effect designer, Sun Jingjing. Let’s see what all the fuss is about!

This year’s Yuyuan Garden Spring Lantern Festival run from Jan 10 to Feb 11.
