Fifty-eight Shanghai Expats, from eighteen different countries, received the city’s Silver Magnolia Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the city. The annual award has been held for the last 30 years and has been given to 1,216 recipients.
Contributions this year ranged from retail, finance and art, through to scientific innovation. The Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office spokesman said the contributions of these expats had injected vitality into the city as well as build bridges between Shanghai and other places around the world. Recipients were of one voice in praising the city for its help and also for its vision of the future of the city and the well being of its residents.
