Online Box Office Ready For SIFF

Late night yesterday, the official online platform of the Shanghai International Film Festival, Tao Piaopiao, did a stress test before it finally goes online. Last year, the highest volume of visits-per-second for the first five minutes was 28,000. This year, the engineers tested five to six times the peak number, which was 140,000.

At the beginning of the test, the screen shows the simulated access flow into the system, which rose rapidly from thousands to 100,000-per-second, and lasted for 20 minutes at a peak of nearly 140,000-per-second. This “peak” time was also several times longer than last year’s actual situation. As for the testing results, there were almost no problems, and the whole process was smooth.

The online ticket sales of this year’s Shanghai International Film Festival starts at 8:00 a.m. on June 8 and 10:00 a.m. at the venue. It should be pointed out that after 8:00, all tickets can be purchased. There are no two different ticket pools for the venue and online. So if you want to buy popular tickets, it’s not ideal to queue up all night at the cinema when online sales start two hours earlier.
