South Africa, one of the guest countries of honor of the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) and Africa’s second largest economy, has been China’s largest trading partner in Africa for eight consecutive years.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and South Africa. To participate in the CIIE, South Africa sent 27 companies and organizations from the domestic agricultural processing, apparel, technology and energy industries, led by Dr. Rob Davies, minister of trade and industry.
As for South Africa’s participation in the CIIE, the minister said that besides the world famous South African wine and fruits, the “rainbow nation” country also brought industrial products and financial services.
He believed that the CIIE will play an important role in promoting the expansion of bilateral economic and trade exchanges, especially the expansion of South Africa’s exports of high value-added products to China. The mutually beneficial and win-win economic and trade cooperation between South Africa and China has a bright future!
