Born From Love, Roused By Freedom: The Glass Soul of Eric Bonte runs at the Liuli China Museum Shanghai until October, marking Eric Bonte’s first time in Asia.
Bonte is a world-renowned glass artist from France whose opulent large-scale installations can be found around the world. Bonte set a record for the world’s largest area of stained glass with the windows at the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro in the Ivory Coast. Using over 1 million pieces of glass across 8,400 square meters, the project took 18 months to complete.
Featuring 32 new pieces, this collection differs from his previous work in that it is devoid of bright colors. Free from all restrictions, Bonte presents his ideas as abstract and fragmented manifestations set in gold, clear and black that reveals a soul steeped in love and freedom.
