Nanxiang Town is famed for its vistas of classic Chinese beauty. You could go visit Guyi Garden and… not much else.
Many of the classic vistas had been overshadowed by modern pollution. That is until the government launched a concerted campaign to restore the Hengli River to its former glory.
Now you can catch a glimpse of what this breathtaking town once was. All the factories along the river have been torn down, and six of the eighteen historical views have been restored.
That isn’t the end of the improvements, either. Since 2014, at least 5 rivers a year have been cleaned or dredged under the watchful eyes of river management authorities.
