The 2019 Shanghai Tourism Festival will open on September 14, featuring 100 activities, and will run until October 6.
The 23-day event will start with a grand parade on Huaihai Middle Road on the night of September 14, which will feature 25 floats and 33 groups of performers from home and abroad. The grand parade will show the major achievements China has made in the past 70 years.
One of themes of the festival is Reading Shanghai, and it will show off many aspects of the city. More than 200 historical buildings will be open to public and 10 industrial trip routes featuring Shanghai manufacturing will be unveiled. Major tourist attractions, hotels and B&Bs across Shanghai will offer half-price discounts.
A world music festival will be held in Xintiandi in Huangpu District during the festival. Cultural exhibitions and performances by troupes from Belt and Road countries will be staged and there will be activities for expat families.
The schedule also includes the Zhujiajiao water town Music Festival in Qingpu District and Fengjing water town traditional wedding ceremony in Jinshan District.
Started in 1990, the Shanghai Tourism Festival is entering its 30th year. Make sure you experience all that Shanghai has to offer!
