There are no real surprises who this year’s top salary earners are. A survey by China International Intellectech Corporation has found that the finance, IT and real estate sectors are still dominating the top three slots. Topping the list are finance graduates with average annual salaries of 357,000 Yuan. Information technology professionals are gaining ground, especially those specializing in artificial intelligence. Higher degree holders with majors in algorithms, big data and AI have seen salary increases of 20% to 30% in recent years, earning between 250,000 – 300,000 Yuan, with Ph. D holders earning between 400,000 – 600,000. With competition heating up for these specialists, most companies are offering stock based incentives as well. However, the survey also found that other factors influenced salary packages, for example, graduates working in older 1st tier cities such as Beijing and Shanghai receive about 20% more than those in newer 1st tier cities for comparable work. More good news for upcoming graduates is that it is predicted that they can expect salary increases by another 5 – 10% in the coming year.
