Disneyland Park Shanghai announced today they are considering allowing tourists to carry individual food into the park.
Tourists will be allowed to bring individual food into the amusement park. However, food that needs to be reprocessed, needs heat preparation, or food with a pungent smell will still be rejected from being brought into the park, according to People’s Daily.
Xue Binjun, head of the security department of Disney Shanghai, said that Disney will soon improve its safety check procedures. “We understand the uncomfortable feeling that the security check might bring,” Xue said, “the management team keeps collecting all the feedback from different parties, and through discussion and consideration, along with the guidance from administrative departments, Disney are actively trying to adjust the policy relating to carrying individual food.”
Xue added that the adjustment should be done under two main points. First, the safety among all tourists and all the staff members should be ensured. Second, a better entertaining experience should be carried to all the tourists.
Besides, Disney will keep providing diversify food to the visitors as usual, with different varieties, flavors and costs in order to increase the choice of food and beverage. In addition, tourists can still carry bottled water and bottled drinks into the park. The park will continue providing free drinking water, as there are now 50 places for cool drinking water and 20 places for warm drinking water. However, alcoholic drinks will still be forbidden.
A student at the East China University of Political Science and Law filed a suit at the Pudong New Area People’s Court over the theme park’s ban on March 5 this year. Disney’s regulations state that visitors need to open their bags and have all items checked by staff before entering the park. Food, most beverages and other items, such as glass bottles, are banned.
