Shanghai Through A Foreign Lens

It’s no wonder Shanghai is called the Magic City! Recently, a series pictures of Shanghai went viral on social media featuring the enchanting atmosphere of Shanghai, surprising everyone around the world.

This series of photos were taken by the German photographer, Mark Siegemund, who now lives in Shanghai. As a photographer, digital artist, design director, and adventurer, Siegemund captured the incredible cityscape of Shanghai with a drone camera.

His works showcase the city’s dynamic urban landscape from hard-to-reach angles, above winding streets and between skyscrapers.

In his works, the city is divided into two parts by the Huangpu River, separating the future from the past. On one side is the financial district, also known as Pudong, and on the other is the old sector, called Puxi. Siegemund’s images capture this strange juxtaposition, showing the contrast between tradition and modernity.
