Specialists, scholars and entrepreneurs shared their thoughts today on a host of AI innovations and applications in different fields including medical treatment, autonomous driving, the preservation of cultural relics and many other topic in the AI talk forum held at the West Bund Art Center. The Forum, attracting around 600 spectators, was one of the key presentations in this year’s WAIC.
Speaking on the topic of Cultural Relic Protection, Wu Jian, Director of the Dunhuang Academy spoke about how AI has helped greatly in restoring and preserving cultural relics dating as far back as the 5th century. He said that the Academy was now working to protect six caves in Dunhuang and that specially developed equipment, including drones, have helped to collect the overwhelming amount of relics and data they are discovering.
