Staying Healthy During Flu Season

The flu vaccination season in 2018 has begun, but many citizens found that the supply of flu vaccines this year is quite slow. Industry insiders pointed out that the reason for the shortage of flu vaccines is because of the relevant departments have strengthened the supervision of vaccine production this year and many suppliers have withdrawn. The Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention said that the vaccines will be fully available in early December.

At present, the flu vaccine belongs to the second type of vaccines in China, and recipients can be vaccinated voluntarily and at their own expense. According to the official website of the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the flu epidemic season is mainly in winter and spring, usually between November and March of next year, with the peak around January. Usually two to four weeks after receiving the vaccination, sufficient antibodies are produced, so it is necessary to vaccinate before the epidemic season comes. Flu vaccination is the most effective way to prevent influenza, which can significantly reduce the risk of flu and serious complications.

To avoid contracting the flu, doctors advise a strict hygiene regime: hand washing, wearing masks, and good ventilation. A good night’s sleep and proper exercise will also help.
