Shanghai Museum

As a large museum of ancient Chinese art, Shanghai Museum boasts a collection of 140,000 precious relics, featuring bronzes, ceramics, paintings and calligraphy. The Shanghai Museum is a distinguished architectural combination of traditional culture and modern spirit, making it unique among many museums in the world. Shanghai Museum has ten galleries for permanent collections and three temporary exhibition spaces.

Shanghai History Museum

Shanghai History Museum is a museum that comprehensively reflects Shanghai’s local history. It has a total collection of about 110,000 pieces. It presents the 6,000-year history of the area of 6,000 square kilometers administrated by Shanghai. The building used to house the Shanghai Race Club, the Shanghai Museum, the Shanghai Library, and the Shanghai Art Museum.

Shanghai Natural History Museum

The Shanghai Natural History Museum is a museum dedicated to natural history in the city of Shanghai. It is one of the largest museums of natural sciences in China. The museum has a collection of 240,000 samples. There are also rare species which cannot be found elsewhere outside China, such as a Yellow River mammoth, a giant salamander, a giant panda, and a Yangtze Alligator. The largest exhibit is a 140-million-year-old dinosaur skeleton, which is over four stories high.

China Maritime Museum

China Maritime Museum is located by the Dishui Lake in Lingang New Town, Pudong. China Maritime Museum functions for cultural relics collection, academic research, social education, exhibition and science popularization. It is composed of six exhibition halls, two special exhibition zones, two science movie theatres and a children’s amusement center.
