Citizens in Shanghai have the opportunity to enjoy a water forest, as the ecological conservation zone in Qingxi County Park reopened on July 10th after a two month renovation.
Qingxi County Park is the only county park featuring wetlands in Shanghai. It’s known as a gene bank for native aquatic species. There is and abundance of natural resources: lakes, beaches, reed marches and islands. Combined with wetlands, rivers and forests, they form a dynamic ecosystem.
About 185 kinds of birds live in the there, including one of the first class national protected animals, the Chinese merganser. Trees are mainly tall and straight, bringing tourists relief from the heat.
