Today, China’s first independently built icebreaker for polar research, Xuelong II, was delivered successfully in Shanghai. It plans to carry out China’s 36th Antarctic expedition with Xuelong later this year.
Xuelong II has made great innovations in ship type, functions and facilities, making it the world’s first two-way icebreaker. Its scientific research ability has been comprehensively improved and its intelligent management has become more intuitive.
The days of China purely relying on Xuelong for polar research have come to an end, and we look forward to the discoveries to come!
